Newark Terminal A Newark Liberty International Airport's Terminal A, known for its outdated facilities and congestion, was in need of a revamp. To address this, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, led by aviation director Huntley Lawrence, embarked on a project to replace Terminal A with a modern Terminal One. The $2.7 billion terminal, designed by the London-based firm Grimshaw, aimed to provide a smoother and more enjoyable experience for passengers. It featured improved security, a wide range of amenities, and greater flexibility in gate usage. The project created more jobs, increased the minimum wage for airport workers, and aimed to transform Newark into a world-class airport with state-of-the-art facilities.
LaGuardia Terminal B has received two prestigious accolades at the World Airport Awards: Best New Airport Terminal in the world and the highest global 5-Star Rating from Skytrax, making it the first airport terminal in North America to achieve this ranking. The awards recognize the exceptional work of LaGuardia Gateway Partners (LGP) and Vantage, who successfully transformed the terminal into a state-of-the-art facility while minimizing disruptions to operations. The project was completed on time and within budget in July 2022. These honors highlight the dedication and talent of the team involved in the project, showcasing their ability to deliver an outstanding guest experience. The World Airport Awards and the 5-Star Rating are prestigious benchmarks for assessing airport quality and excellence worldwide.
